JUST FOR KIX OVERVIEW:
At Just for Kix we feel that it’s important for dancers to interact and learn as a team. Team based dance provides new and existing dancers with an opportunity to have fun while learning and growing as a group. We offer precision dance team instruction in over 185 communities and hope to continue to grow. By enrolling your daughter or son in South Fargo’s Just for Kix dance classes you will be exposing them to quality dance instruction in a nurturing and culturally rich environment. Each of our communities offer various dance styles including; high kick, jazz, ballet, tap, hip hop and lyrical. Group lessons in South Fargo provide young dancers with the ability to learn and perfect new techniques while they create everlasting friendships with likeminded peers. Individuals who take part in team dance activities will develop remarkable socialization skills; achieve a heightened sense of self-esteem, and learn key components in maintaining a healthy and physically fit lifestyle. These life lessons, among others, will benefit your child well into adulthood.

PHILOSOPHY:
Our philosophy has always been to treat dancers as we would want our own children to be treated. We want our classes to be a place where dancers feel valued and cherished. Our goal is to instill confidence and self-esteem, while helping them stay active.

TECHNIQUE and BASICS:
Parents are amazed by how detail oriented JFK is. Basic placement and technique is a major focus. We work on creating good habits in the younger dancers, to prevent bad habits from developing. Creator, Cindy’s philosophy is TAKE CARE OF THE LITTLE THINGS and BIG THINGS WILL HAPPEN. (Possibly why the high school team she coaches has won 8 state championships as well as a National Championship.) Instruction is VERY hands on and focused.
 FLEXIBILITY and STRENGTH is focused on too! They are 2 key factors in becoming a great dancer; challenging dancers to advance and progress to their top potential.

CHOREOGRAPHY:
Our choreography is what built our business. It is creative and innovative. DID WE MENTION FUN??? That is the NUMBER ONE ingredient. Our classes are fast paced and fun. We have great music and great instructors.

ADDITIONAL INFO:
1. You will perform multiple times per season at large-scale events.
2. The older classes compete in a “low pressure” environment. (4th grade and up)
3. Your costumes/uniforms are reasonably priced. Core classes use them for 2 years. Many times because of the JFK network your used uniform can be sold to dancers in other communities.
4. JFK is organized. We get it done! Class time is maximized so every minute is utilized.
5. Classes start on time and end on time.

Welcome to the South Fargo Just For Kix web site!

WEATHER ANNOUNCEMENTS:  There are no weather related announcements or cancellations at this time!

If Fargo Public Schools are canceled or let out early due to weather, or if after school activities are canceled, South Fargo JFK classes will also be canceled.  Canceled classes will be made up and that information will be handed out at your next regularly scheduled JFK class.  Cancellation information will also be posted on this page and on local tv channels 4, 6,and 11 and AM radio stations 970 WDAY and 790 KFGO.

Hip Hop classes begin on Thursday, March 18.  Beginners (2nd-5th graders) are from 6-7 pm, Intermediate (6th-12th graders) are from 7-8 pm.  Hip Hop classes will be held in the room upstairs at CBE Middle School!

REGISTRATION PACKETS FOR THE 2010-2011 DANCE SEASON WILL BE HANDED OUT TO CURRENT JFK DANCERS THE FIRST WEEK IN APRIL.  CURRENT JFK DANCERS ARE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO PRE-REGISTER FOR NEXT YEAR’S CLASSES!  A REGISTRATION FOR NEW DANCERS WILL BE ON MONDAY, APRIL 26 AT CBE MIDDLE SCHOOL, 1601 13TH AVE. S., FROM 5:30-7:00.

PERFORMANCE INFORMATION

MOORHEAD UNITED WE DANCE COMPETITION (all 4th-12th graders) will be held on Sunday, March 21 at Moorhead High School, 2400 4th Ave. S.  Below is a list of arrival, performance and awards times. Please know that this schedule is subject to change since competitions can run a little ahead OR behind schedule.  A note with these times will be handed out at class on Monday, March 15 and Tuesday, March 16.

Tuesday Mini Kix (4th & 5th graders):  Arrival time 9:00, performance time 10:46, awards 10:50

Monday Mini Kix (4th & 5th graders):  Arrival time 10:00, performance time 11:30, awards 11:36

Mini Jazz (4th-6th graders):  Arrival time 11:45, performance time 1:12, awards 1:15

Jr. Jazz (7th-12th graders):  Arrival time 1:00, performance time 2:27, awards 2:48

Middle Kix (6th & 7th graders):  Arrival time 2:45, performance time 4:12, awards 4:45

Jr. Kix (8th-12th graders):  Arrival time 4:15, performance time 5:45, awards 6:18

Park in the lot on the north side of Moorhead High and enter door # 8.  Go straight in the door into the fieldhouse, that is where we will meet, keep our belongings and practice.

SHOW DAY CHECKLIST:  Please be sure you have your complete uniform on, including any hair pieces that were included with your uniform!  Black socks for 2nd-12th graders are a MUST!

Tiny Kix (preschool):  Uniform, tights, ballet shoes, hair neatly pulled away from face.

Wee Petites (K & 1st): Uniform leo and skirt, black tights, black ballet shoes, long hair in a neat low pony tail, rhinestone barrett.

Wee Kix (2nd & 3rd):  Uniform leo and pants, black socks, black ballet shoes, long hair in a neat low pony tail with matching hair scrunchie.

Mini Kix (4th & 5th):  Uniform leo and pants, black socks, black dance shoes, long hair in a neat low pony tail, matching hair scarf.

Mini Jazz (4th-6th):  black sleeveless leo, black pants, lime top, black socks, black ballet shoes,  lime head scarf w/hair in a neat low pony tail.

Jr. Jazz (7th-12th):  Zebra top, black pants, black socks, black ballet shoes,  zebra head scarf w/hair in a neat low pony tail.

Middle Kix (6th & 7th):  Uniform tunic and pants, black socks, black dance shoes, long hair in a neat low pony tail, matching line green head band.

Jr. Kix (8th-12th):  Uniform top, leo and pants, black socks, black dance shoes, long hair in a neat low pony tail, matching blue head band.

GENERAL INFORMATION

TEENY KIX, A 6 WEEK SPECIAL SESSION FOR 3 YR. OLDS, will be held Tuesday’s, 3-9-10 thru 4-13-10 from 4:15-4:45.  This session is full! 

Many dancers are coming to classes without the appropriate footwear.  Sandals, bare feet and socks are not allowed for safety reasons!  Please be sure your dancer is wearing ballet shoes or tennis shoes each week to class.  Thanks!

If you are looking for lots of glitz, make-up, expensive costumes and classes, you won’t find them here. Sorry! Just For Kix focuses on providing nurturing dance classes for children, preschool thru 12th grade, at an affordable rate. Our uniforms do sparkle, but it’s our dancer’s that SHINE! Respect, respect, respect. Your dancer matters to us! We treat all dancers the same and improve them through praise and support. We are ORGANIZED! We get the job done. Class time is maximized so that every minute is utilized. We know our method and we know it well. And it works! You will be surprised at what we can accomplish in one class. And, best of all, Just For Kix is FUN! I know you will like what you see!

My name is Shauna Larson and I this is my 13th year as the South Fargo JFK director!  I have been a certified judge for NDADD (North Dakota Association of Dance and Drill) for 11 years and am currently the assistant coach for the Moorhead High dance team. My love for children and dance makes Just For Kix the perfect job for me!  We have a talented staff dedicated to providing your dancer with a positive dance experience!

                           SOUTH FARGO JFK CLASS DATES AND CHANGES

 South Fargo JFK does not always follow the school calendar. Since I rent space from Fargo Public Schools, I am bound by their schedules and the availability of the space. If there is no school due to weather, school has been canceled due to the weather or after school activities are canceled due to the weather there will be no JFK classes that evening. If classes need to be canceled for any other reason, you will receive that information at class. Any classes that are canceled will be made up. We are required to schedule 32 classes per our 8 month season and these dates are tracked by our home office. That averages out to 4 classes per month, although some months may have more and some months may have less. We do understand that some dancers will have conflicts with make up classes and we hope that we will not have reschedule classes often. Be sure to check your calendars for class dates! Cancellations of both classes and performances will be posted on this site as well. Thank you for your understanding!
