Just For Kix Dance:

Here at Just for Kix we feel that it’s important for young dancers to interact and learn as a team. Team based dance provides new and existing dancers with an opportunity to have fun while learning and growing as a group. We offer precision dance team instruction in over 150 Midwest communities and hope to continue to grow. By enrolling your son or daughter in Aberdeen’s Just for Kix dance classes you will be exposing them to quality dance instruction in a nurturing and culturally rich environment. There they will study and participate in various styles of dance including jazz, ballet, and tap. Group lessons in Aberdeen provide young dancers with the ability to learn and perfect new techniques while they create everlasting friendships with likeminded peers. Individuals who take part in team dance activities will develop remarkable socialization skills; achieve a heightened sense of self esteem, and learn key components in maintaining a healthy and physically fit lifestyle. These life lessons, among others, will benefit your child well into adulthood.

Just For Kix was established over 25 years ago and provides excellent dancing and performing opportunities for young people. From Director Heather Rowen: Dancers and Parents ~ Welcome to our NEW Aberdeen Just For Kix website! Please continue to check back for updates and/or changes. I’m so excited for our upcoming season! I just returned from our annual Directors Convention in Brainerd, and we have such great music, moves, and routines coming up in our 2007-2008 season. If you’re a returning dancer, I’m looking forward to seeing you all again! If you’re a new dancer, WELCOME! We’re glad to have you! This new website will help parents and dancers to be fully informed during our season. Don’t ever hesitate to call me or email me. I’m looking forward to a great 2007-2008 season!

Meet your Instructors:

• Heather Rowen-Heather has been directing the Aberdeen Just For Kix Program since 2002 when the Aberdeen program was launched. Heather has been actively involved in cheer and dance since the age of 10. She has been on State and Nationally winning cheer and dance teams. She cheered and danced at Northern State University and has brought her experience to many Aberdeen Area youth.
• Darcy Wirebaugh-Darcy is starting her third year assisting with the Aberdeen JFK Program. Darcy was a proud and helpful dance parent who stepped in, in a huge way! Darcy also has a cheer and dance background and assists with all class levels.
• Trene Henderson-Trene is starting her second year assisting with the Aberdeen JFK Program. She has been dancing with Just For Kix since the program began in 2002. Trene will be dancing with our Junior Kix class. Trene brings with her a knowledge and immense dance background. Trene works primarily with the Tiny Kix classes, but you will see her helping out with many things.

Other Notes: Just For Kix focuses on precision dance. Precision dance is a mixture of different styles of dance put together: ballet, jazz, modern, lyrical, kickline, funk, hip-hop, pom, novelty, etcetera. All choreography is age-appropriate. The difference is that our classes are classified as TEAMS and we focus on doing our movements in sync with each other - being precise on our beats, timing and technique. Our choreography is challenging and fun, which helps kids learn valuable dance technique and skills without even knowing it! Being on teams helps the kids understand teamwork, encouraging others, cooperation and perseverance. We have found that kids are learning valuable life skills while learning dance.

Our philosophy is to provide a place where dancers feel valued and cherished. Our goal is to instill confidence and self-esteem, while helping them stay active.
